Building Materials: as far the surviving foundations of the old mosque concerned, brownish limestone and very few porous basalt blocks in reuse, some of them certainly of ancient origin.

Construction details: unknown.

Preservation: The old mosque, located within an Islamic cemetery at the southern shore of the wādī as-Sakhīnah, has been replaced by a new two-storey building of skeleton concrete construction. At the NW corner a sector of the old terrace foundation wall of the old mosque survives. In the immediate vicinity of the mosque the ruin of a Byzantine church with mosaic floors was excavated several years ago but it is covered today.
