Plan: broad rectangular, single nave, with entrance from the N. Miḥrāb in S wall not traceable, possibly due to inattentive modern conservation (S wall widely rebuilt). To the N, a trapezoid courtyard is lined by unworked fieldstones. To the left of the entrance door, a low bench (ziyādeh) has been constructed out of few larger blocks. The building is surrounded by an old cemetery of considerable age.

Measurements: 36.96 m2

Exterior: 6 m x 8.8 m. courtyard 8.4 m x 10.4 m x 8 m.

Interior: 8.40 m x 4.80 m.

Building Materials: predominantly limestone, partly reused well-dressed ancient stones of larger size, mixed with a few basalt stones; modern conservation with sand-concrete in the joints.

Construction details: mainly one coursed masonry with smaller flakes filled into the horizontal joints. The door frame consists of well-dressed limestone blocks crowned by a larger monolithic lintel.

Preservation: ruined, conserved, obviously not anymore used for prayer. In the immediate eastern neighborhood a small new mosque has been donated by Jamīl Sa‘id Ḥabbās in 2004, for other endowments by the same person cf. no. 183.

Inscription(s): none known.

Date: Mamluk or Ottoman with no firm dating criteria. Abū Dharr Jundub ibn Junāda al-Ghifārī was the fifth convert to Islam, a companion of the Prophet, who died in H 32 = AD 652/653 at Rabadha, Sa'udi Arabia.
