Translation: “In the name of Allāh, the Merciful, the Compassionate. This is the shrine of the companion ‘Abd ar-Raḥmān ibn ‘Auf, one of the ten persons promised (by the prophet) to enter the paradise and one of the six persons whom ‘Umar Ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, peace be upon him, relied on their opinions, and the eighth person who confessed Islam. May God give his blessing on Prophet Muḥammad and his companions.”

Another inscription (2) of the same appearance, also on seven lines reads (transcription and translation by NAt):

“In the name of Allāh, the Merciful, the Compassionate. Those who establish prayers and give alms (zakah) and do not fear anybody apart from Allāh, those are the guided (people) (= Q. 9 at-Tawba, 18). This mosque was constructed for Allāhs praise by Jamīl Sa‘īd Ḥabbās in the year 1425 H / 2004 AD, and this sign was placed without his knowledge, Thanks to God.

Date(s): The maqām commemorates the burial of ‘Abd ar-Raḥmān ibn ‘Auf, one of the companions of the Prophet, who died in H 32 = 652/653 AD. The location of his tomb at Jubēḥa is apocryphic since it is not historically confirmed. The new mausoleum is a personal donation by Jamīl Sa‘īd Ḥabbās dated to H 1425 / 2004 AD; for another endowment by the same person in the same year at Shuqayq see no. 359.
