Building Materials: yellow-brown local limestone.

Construction details: unknown. Die photograph published by Brünnow and von Domaszeswki (Provincia Arabia II, 84 fig. 667, here fig. 283.4) shows the SW room of the upper floor covered by a dome which indicates that it had been in use as a muṣallā by the garrison and pilgrims in the late 19th century. The loophole in the S wall served as the miḥrab.

Date(s): AD 1531

Traveler Reports: “Kothrany ist also höchst wahrscheinlich Castra Arnonensia, weil der Mûdscheb von dorther zu kommen scheint” (Seetzen 1854). “The Khan does not look very old...There are three small cannons in it, said to have been placed there by Ibrahim Pascha...” (Gray Hill 1897, quoted in Provincia Arabia II).
