Plan: rectangular, entrance in N wall, miḥrāb in S wall. Schumacher's plan does not indicate any roof-supporting elements such as corner- and wall buttresses necessary for the construction of a cross vaulted ceiling. The presence of red granite column drums, however, implies that there were at least two triple transversal arches in E-W direction (in respect of the considerable exterior N- S extension of 12.40 m). It can be assumed that their ends rested on corbels at the interior short walls in line with the colonnades. The roofing, therefore, must have been flat.

Exterior:16.60 x 12.40 m (Steuernagel 1927).

Interior: 14.90 m in E-W direction (Steuernagel 1927).

Building Materials: many Roman spolia.

Construction details: flat roof on colonnaded transversal arches.

Preservation: destroyed, no remains.

Inscription(s): none known.

Date(s): The roofing type occurs in northwestern Jordan predominantly at mosques of Umayyad, 'Abbasid or Ayyubid dates.

Traveler Reports: “… abû ehdschêr. Man trifft, von Nor- den kommend, zunächst einen kleinen Hügel mit einer Ruine, der etwas östlich vom Weg liegt. Etwa 300 m süd- westlich davon liegen die Ruinen einer Moschee (dschami‘), deren Längsachse genau von Ost nach West orientiert ist, und deren Grundmauern noch 0,50m hoch stehen und deren miḥrāb noch deutlich zu erkennen ist (vgl. Abb. 105). Der Bau war mit roten Granitsäulen ge- schmückt. Viele römische Ornamente, Blattwerk und Pfeifen, liegen umher und waren bei dem Bau der Mo- schee verwendet. Sie stammen wohl aus Pella, dessen Akropolis, der tell el-husn, aus einer Entfernung von 3 ½ km auf die Ortslage herabschaut. Dicht südlich von der Moschee liegt ein Fakîrgrab…“ (Steuernagel 1927).
