Plan: broad rectangular with semicircular miḥrāb in the middle of the S wall facing door in the N wall. The miḥrāb protrudes to the exterior of the S wall. The interior is divided by two parallel arcades of double arches in E-W direction resting on wall pilasters and two pillars in alignment to the door and miḥrāb; each one window on both sides of the miḥrāb, a further one in the middle between the SW pilaster and the W wall.

Measurements: unknown.

Exterior: unknown.

Interior: unknown.

Building Materials: local sand- and limestone; peeled wooden beams and cane mats with earth for roofing.

Construction details: two side masonry with rubble fill; traditional flat roofing with wooden beams, cane mats and earth package (fig. 282.4-5. 7).

Preservation: restored and well maintained. In recent years the N pillar has been reinforced by a bulky pier of masonry at its base. The mosque is in use for daily Muslim prayer.

Inscription(s): none known.

Date(s): Together with the excavated mosque at Beidha (no. 56) and the restored jāmi‘ at ar-Rājif (no. 296), the masjid in aṭ-Ṭaybeh forms a small local S Jordanian group by its plan. The third parallel at ‘Azraq (no. 44) as well as the small mosque at Jabal Says suggest an Umayyad archetype, cf. O’Kane 2005, 195.

Traveler Reports: none known.
