Plan: The sanctuary in present condition comprises the domed burial chamber and next to it a mosque. It has widely rebuilt in the 1950s. There is no evidence for its older appearance.

Building Materials: local limestone

Construction details: unknown.

Preservation: intact, used for Muslim prayer.

 

Inscription(s): above the right entrance in the N wall on a white limestone Arabic inscription (1) running on five lines (Photo, reading, transcript and translation by NAt):

 

Another Arabic inscription (2) runs on three lines on an elevated rectangular plate of orange-brown limestone. The letters are engraved in a calligraphic manner and were originally painted black (Photo, reading, transcript and translation by NAt):

 

Translation: “The construction of this room and the opposite mosque was undertaken at the expense of the donations of people of good deeds. Year 1378 H(ijri).”

 

Another Arabic inscription (3) runs over four lines, the letters are executed in relief an painted black (Photo, reading, transcript and translation by NAt):

 

Translation: “The construction of this noble shrine was undertaken by the poorservant Qadrī Yūsuf al-Ṣāliḥ and that in theyear 1377 H.”

 

A further Arabic inscription (4) is chiseled on an orange brown limestone slab with incised and black painted letters on three lines (Photo, reading, transcript and translation by NAt):

 

Translation: “The construction of the shrine of the prophet Jādūr was donated by the servant in need of Allāh, Qadrī Yūsuf al-Ṣāliḥ. 1379 H (ijri).” (edited by RS).

 

Date(s): The present complex of the mosque with the burial chamber dates to the years 1957/1958 AD. About older buildings - which certainly once existed – nothing is known.
