Date(s): ‘Amīr bin Abī Waqqās was the maternal cousin of Prophet Mohammed and brother of the famous Muslim general Sa‘d ibn Abī Waqqās. ‘Amīr, who participated in the battle of Uḥud, was the eleventh man to convert to Islam. He died during the great plague in the time of the Umayyad caliphate of ‘Umar in Damascus.
